Veggie Meals That Boost Your Metabolism!!!

In my quest to a healthier me and body. I ran across a great article from Fitsugar that boost your metabolism.  If you want to help give your metabolism a little boost, Their are tons of great foods you can give a try.Here are some recipes that will keep you feeling full, but will also increase your calorie burn.

Eat Your Breakfast

Why is breakfast the most important meal of the day? Because it jump-starts your metabolism and keeps you energized. Whole grains are one such way to get your engines running, by filling your stomach and slowing digestion.

INGREDIENTS
Dry:
1 c rolled oats
1/2 c raw buckwheat groats
1/4 c almonds, roughly chopped
2 tbsp whole flax seeds
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Wet:
2 tbsp raw almond butter
2-3 tbsp agave syrup (sub maple syrup or honey if you prefer, and how sweet you like your granola)
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350* and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Mix all dry ingredients in a big bowl. Heat wet ingredients in a small sauce pan (or in microwave- I don't own one so I use stovetop) until boiling and immediately pour over dry ingredients. Mix with a spoon until dry mixture is completely coated. Pour mixture onto parchment paper and bake for 22 minutes. Take out of oven and let cool for another 15 minutes. Break up granola and keep stored in a glass jar. This makes just a little over 3 cups! Ea with milk, sprinkled over oatmeal, yogurt, fruit...or just straight out of the jar with a spoon Eye-wink

Spice Is Nice

Incorporating spices like like chili, turmeric, and cinnamon to your food is an easy way to add calorie-burning properties to your next meal. Try this vegetarian mango tofu bowl recipe in addition to the spice element, it packs in many elements that will boost metabolism, like apple cider vinegar and protein-packed tofu and quinoa.

INGREDIENTS
Mango sauce:
* 3/4 cup organic apple juice
* 1 mango, pit removed
* 1/4 cup lemon juice
* 1/4 cup coconut water vinegar or apple cider vinegar
* 1/4 cup sunflower oil
* 1/4 cup sugar free ketchup
* 1/4 cup fresh grapefruit juice
* 2 tbsp braggs liquid aminos or soy sauce
* 1-2 jalapenos
* 1/4 tsp Himalayan rock salt
* 1/2 bunch cilantro, chopped
* 3 tbsp filtered water
* 1.5 tbsp arrowroot powder or 1 tbsp corn starch
Veggies + protein
* 2 lbs. boneless skinless chicken, sliced into 1/2-inch thick strips or 2 blocks of GMO free firm tofu, pressed and cut into slices
* 4 medium onions , diced
* 3 cups snow peas
* 2 red peppers, diced small
* 1 tbsp extra virgin coconut oil
High protein rice mix
* 4.5 cups water
* 1.5 cups brown basmati rice
* 1/2 cup red/white quinoa
* 1 tbsp extra virgin coconut oil

DIRECTIONS
To make the sauce: add all ingredients but cilantro, water, and arrowroot in a blender and process until smooth. Transfer to a medium sized saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and cook for 20minutes. Meanwhile, combine water and arrowroot in a small bowl. Once simmering is complete, add arrowroot mixture and whisk. Cook for 1 minute. Add chopped cilantro and cook for an additional 30 seconds. Remove from heat and set aside.
To make protein: preheat oven to 375F and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper for chicken, or oil for tofu. If you’re cooking a bit of both, you can separate the sheet with a foil wall. Coat the tofu pieces in the mango sauce and bake chicken/tofu for 30-40 minutes until tofu is browning at the corners and/or chicken is cooked through with no pink.
To make veggies: Add coconut oil and onions to a large frying pan [I used cast iron]. Allow to cook for 3 minutes before adding remaining ingredients + 1/3 cup mango sauce. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
For the rice mix: Add all ingredients to a rice cooker or large saucepan and cook until soft [about 30 minutes]
Throw it all together, pour some mango sauce on top, and you have yourself a delicious dinner!
Makes 6 rice bowls and ~3 cups of sauce

Weight Loss Tools: POLAR WATCH,SPINNING BIKE ,& NIKE TRAINING APP

 Over the holidays I invested in 3 items that I had been eyeing all year long. A spinning bike , polar watch and a Nike Training Club app for my Ipad.  They have been pretty much untouched since black Friday. I blame my love of social gatherings and the festive mood I've been since Thanksgiving.Which reallys means I havnt been able to stop eating! But given that I could no longer fit into my favorite jeans and the start of the New year . I had to put my New years Resoultion to full gear. Heres the ups and downs of my xmas gadgets.

1) Polar RS300x SD Running Series Heart Rate Monitor:
For those who want to know speed and distance to aid in performance along with the ability to measure heart rate. Measures heart rate combined speed and distance Train at the right intensity with personal training zones Displays calories burned Tracks latest 16 training sessions and last 16 weeks of training.

Which means in mommy's terms its lets you know how many calories you have burned during your workout. It also lets you track and save your process. Its functions are pretty easy to use. I was lucky during black Friday to pay about $100 for the watch. I totally love its easy functions and waterproof case. its perfect for me and my bust mommy's lifestyle.

2) Spinning Bike:
I love spinning but kept finding it so difficult to work out with two jobs , Madison ballet and Daniel soccer games. So I searched craigslist  and was lucky enough to find this great bike. I'm really unsure the make and model of my bike. But yesterday I was able to use both my polar watch and my bike. It was awesome to know I burned 450 calories in an hours time. This is a great and easy workout. I loved that I was able to put the kids to bed and catch up on my Novellas.

3) Nike Training Club App- This application is a great tool if you have access to a ipad or iphone.  I love more than anything that it was FREE! Yesterday was my first time using the get Lean Training for Beginners. It was pretty intense. After the warm up . I was sweating. I wasn't able to complete the full 45 minutes. I plan to work myself to that point. But this is a great free tool to get you were you need to be. Its has 4 different goals you can choose from.

I'm 32 years and have yet to really say "IM DOING THIS !!!! Running marathon or even a race. I admire those who year after year do everything they sought out to do. My sister being one of those people. She always has done everything she always put her mind to. Me .. I'd always have the kids excuse, working or my husband . With really seeing for the first time the life is so short ...do I really want to die without doing anything I really wanted to do my whole life . In saying that I started my year a little different this year . Making a list of not any one resolution but 10 . This list is really of things that I always talked about doing but could never get around doing or starting.
