April 22, 2009 11:00a – 2:00p

Houston Medical Center Earth Day Symposium

6550 Bertner at Moursund

Through this celebration, the TMC community will learn about the benefits of recycling, ways to reduce one's ecological footprint, and how the TMC is going green. Nearly 50 hospitals, universities, businesses, governmental agencies and community organizations will participate and share information on their sustainability initiatives. Special events, including electric car rides, a roulette wheel of eco-prizes and a demonstration solar house, are also planned. Many of the exhibitors will be giving out free eco-friendly items--such as compact fluorescent light bulbs, reusable shopping bags and tree seedlings. The tree seedlings will include up to 2,000 native pine trees and hardwoods. Opportunities to recycle various items, including old eye glasses and cell phones, will be available as well.

The Commons food court will be featuring special Earth-Day selections so join us for lunch and celebrate Earth Day!

The event is being organized by the Houston Medical Center Recycling Collaborative. For more information, please email us at EarthDay@HMCRC.org.
