IKEA Houston will culminate a $2 million remodel of the store this June and on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, the store will host a Grand Reopening event for the community. The restaurant will open at 9 a.m. June 9 through June 14. The Grand Reopening day will include entertainment and free prizes, such as:
• Free breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon and hash brown potatoes served in the restaurant
• “Pick a Card, Any Card” scratch off coupons for free IKEA items, ranging from free hot dogs to a $500 gift card
• “Take a Seat (and We Mean It!)” give away for the first 100 households (over 18) in line to receive a free POANG chair
• “For the (Truly) Young at Heart” give away for the first 100 children (under 18) in line to receive a free FAMNIG heart-shaped cushion
• A contest for free door prizes for visitors who wear yellow and blue items (hair, clothing, shoes, face paint) in the spirit of IKEA’s store colors
Visitors are encouraged to explore the newly remodeled store with their families, experience a taste of Scandinavian cooking June 9 through 14 for a $1, which includes Swedish meatballs with potatoes, cream sauce and lingonberry jam, in the 350-seat restaurant or have their children enjoy time playing in the supervised children’s play area, Småland.
