Houston Parks and Recreation Department Aquatics Program


Pools And Water Spraygrounds

The Houston Parks and Recreation Department operates and maintains 38 outdoor swimming pools and 17 water spraygrounds. In addition, the department operates a heated indoor natatorium for citizens with disabilities located at the Metropolitan Multi-Service Center, 1475 West Gray. The outdoor swimming pools are open during the summer months. The water spraygrounds and the indoor pool at the Metropolitan Multi-Service Center for citizens with disabilities are open year-round.


2011 Summer Swim Season

For the 2011 Summer Swim Season 29 COH pools will open in 2 phases. 8 pools will remain closed and the Glenbrook park pool is closed due to construction.

The 2011 Summer Swim Season runs from May 28, 2011 – August 12, 2011. Pool entry at all pools is FREE. Pool hours are 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday. All pools are closed on Mondays for regular maintenance.

The Memorial Park Pool will open for Lap Swimming Tuesday – Friday, 6–10 am, May 24 – October 30, or until water temperature drops below 72 degrees.

HPARD in partnership with the American Red Cross will offer Learn to Swim Classes at select pools for a fee of $25. Pools marked with an asterisk will offer Learn to Swim Classes.
